TILES

Tiles is an upcycling clothing system that aims at making upcycling of textile waste a common household practice just like recycling bottles is. The idea is to encourage the general masses to turn their old household linens like tablematts, cushion covers, curtains, bed covers etc. into fabric tiles with drawstring channels running through it horizontally and vertically. This allows the tiles to have enough malleability to be manupilated in various ways, the tiles connect with each other by tying the drawstrings together. The end result is a very basic fabric building block which is highly modular and easy to produce. The pattern is just a basic rectangle with the sewing instructions consisting of only straight lines. At the DIY scale it is a beginner level project.

Tiles is not a product to be sold in the market but a habit that can be developed in society to manage the textile waste we as humans create. The ultimate goal here is to create an active community that experiments with the tiles and shares among itself the improvised versions, constantly evolving and finding newer ways to make the clothing concept more efficient and the habit widely practiced. Its a project with an open end, It's an idea thrown into the universe.
